    基礎研究として，言語への反復接触(経験)が言語知識(語彙・音声・統語)の獲得に及ぼす影響，頻度による影響などについて，言語産出の両面において，心理言語学実験を通して，基礎的な行動の変容を明らかにした。 ●経験に基づく統語知識の変容(潜在学習 implicit learning)が起こるのか，fMRIを用いた神経心理言語学実験により，任意の文構造に繰り返し接触すると既存知識の重みづけが変化し，その構造を次に予測する可能性(予測エラー)が高まり，その予測エラーの大きさが学習の度合いを反映することなどが明らかになった［Nakagawa et al, 2022］。 ●リテリング活動における語彙の習得：リテリングには語彙の使用が重要であるが，語彙がどのように学習され，習得されるのかを心理言語学実験により調査した。その結果，学習者にとって既知語は語彙知識の深さが促進され，未知語は新たに習得されることが明らかになった［関・濱田・横川, 未発表］。 ●学習トレーニングシステムに関する理論的基盤の整備：リテリング活動を中核とするパイロット版学習トレーニングシステムを認知的メカニズムの観点からさらに考察を加え，トレーニングシステムの改善と拡張の可能性を実証するための理論的モデルの精緻化を図った［横川・中村・田中・島田・鳴海・濱田, 2022］。

    This study is a pilot survey carried out with the goal of building a familiarity database on English “sentence construction” for Japanese EFL learners. Participants were then asked to evaluate the degree of familiarity with these sentence constructions on a 7-point scale (7: [Very familiar] to 1: [Never seen before]). As a result, the following was found: the familiarity differs depending on the category of an argument structure, and the familiarity with a verb is not necessarily correlated with the familiarity with its sentence construction; in some sentence constructions, familiarity varies depending on the tense and aspect, whereas in the other sentence constructions, it does not; the evaluation on the familiarity of sentence constructions varies greatly for each participant for some verbs, but not for the other verbs.

    This study discusses the findings of and focuses on the automatization of natural language processing, as well as the role played by the function of noticing, attention, and interactive alignment. Among the findings, this study identified that the phenomenon of syntactic priming－one of the mechanisms supporting the function of interactive alignment－also appears through spoken language production if the language is intelligible. While the degree of mapping of the syntactic and semantic structures of language comprehension varies on the learner's language proficiency, the abstract representation of syntactic structure can be acquired through repeated exposure of the same sentence structure by using the priming method. This may also make the progression of implicit learning possible, which handles syntactic structure and semantic roles.

    This study investigated automatization of syntactic processing and relationships between syntactic and semantic processing in Japanese EFL learners depending on their proficiency by changing the type of task they performed immediately after reading a sentence. Participants read sentences with phrase structure rule violations or with semantic violations and conducted one of the following three tasks: (1) a sentence correctness judgment task, (2) a grammaticality judgment task, and (3) a semantic judgment task. These tasks manipulated the participants’ focus on linguistic information. Results revealed that sentence processing in Japanese EFL learners is lexical-semantic driven when they do not pay attention to syntactic information, either because their syntactic processing mechanism may not activate or because they may not be able to use it efficiently.
